Map of the Journey
Higgins is approximately 8 years old. He is a true standard and weighs in at about 20 pounds. HIggins is very active and loves to chase shadows of birds across the lawn. He is gentle with our older babies here at the sanctuary. Higgins is best suited for an active home where he is the only male dog. He loves to go on walks and would do very well with an active family.
Lily is approximately 11 years old. She is a true standard and weighs around 25 pounds. Lily is active but also loves having her comfy bed under the AC to retreat to in the hot afternoon hours. Lily is not really a cuddle in your lap kind of baby. She loves attention but is also very independent. She gets along well with the other dogs here at the sanctuary but we feel she would really flourish as an only dog. Lily would do fine around older children.
Lefty is approximately 7 years old and weighs 13 pounds. He has recently had a dental and his vaccinations were updated. He was also neutered and tested negative for heart worms, and is on monthly heart worm prevention. Lefty is doing very well on his house training and he gets along well with other dogs. He absolutely loves to go on walks and he is spirited and spry. Lefty would do well with an active family with well behaved children.
Peanut was surrendered to the Baton Rouge shelter in early 2018. Boy was in ill health but with a good diet and some love he recovered and traveled to the Sanctuary. Once there, Peanut began to hang with the younger pups as Peanut needs to run, play, and love. We estimate Peanut to be about 9 years old and he weighs 12 pounds.
Murphy is two years old. and weighs 13 pounds. We believe he is a mix between a Dachshund and a Poodle, so we are calling him a Doodle. Murphy is active and sweet. He loves everyone and gets along great with dogs. He does very well on a leash and he is house trained. Murphy has been completely vetted and all he needs now is a forever home of his own.
Harley is 9 years old. She has been completely vetted and is now ready for her own family to love. Harley is a true standard at about 22 pounds. She is bonded with Marley and they must be adopted together. Harley needs some work on her house training but she does very well on a leash. Harley loves other dogs and women. It takes her a bit to warm up to a man. This little angel loves to cuddle.
Marley is 6 years old and weighs 9 pounds. He is bonded with Harley and they must be adopted together. Marley is friendly and sweet. He loves to be held and he does very well riding in a car. Harley has been completely vetted and is hoping someone will have a place in their heart for him and his sister Harley.
9-years old. About 12 pounds. These three pups are an owner-surrender and are hitching a ride to Detroit with Jeff and the seven PLDS pups. Dot is the shyer of the two girls but she has a sweet disposition.
9 years old, about 14 lbs. Duke is a little bundle of joy. He loves his belly rubs and to play chase.
9 years old, about 14 lbs. Dip got her name because it looks like he paws were dipped in white paint. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle.
